From the M6
Follow the M6 take the A66 east near Penrith, continue on the A66 to Bowes, then follow the road sign posted Barnard Castle. You will enter Barnard Castle on a long straight road with a 'T' junction at the end. Turn right and left at the next lights and go over the county bridge. As you cross over the bridge the road is straight for 2-300 yards then it bends to the left, go left and up a steep hill, at the top you will come to a roundabout that has an old butter market on it (Stone Circular Building). Go straight and go through the market town of Barnard Castle, the road bends right then goes up a slight incline. As you reach the roundabout take the first turn left sign posted for Staindrop and Bishop Auckland. The road drops then rises to pass Stainton Grove on the right then two bends and the turn for Stainton Village on the left, the showground entrace is immediatly after the second turn to Stainton Village.

From the A1 Scotch Corner.
The turn off for Barnard Castle is in the right lane (when heading West on A66) of a section of dual carriageway. Once off the A66 you will follow a 'B' road to a set of traffic lights before a bridge. Turn right then over the bridge and follow the road to the 'T' junction. Turn left and follow the road into town centre; at the end you will come to a roundabout that has an old butter market on it (Stone Circular Building). Turn right and go through the market town of Barnard Castle, the road bends to the right and up a hill, at the top as you reach the roundabout take the first turn left sign posted for Staindrop and Bishop Auckland. From Barnard Castle Town Centre
At the top of the road called 'The Bank' you will see a round stone building in the centre of the town.  Head up Galgate, (North East Direction) along the the main street, the road bends right then goes up a slight incline. As you reach the top you reach the roundabout take the first turn left sign posted for Staindrop and Bishop Auckland. The road drops then rises to pass Stainton Grove on the right then two bends and the turn for Stainton Village on the left, the showground entrace is immediatly after the second turn to Stainton Village.
